St. Paul Lutheran's Prayer Chain

PRAYER49A
Prayers 8/2/09

Assistant: With the people of God in Christ Jesus, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation.

Jesus, Bread of Life for the world, today we have been reminded again what is most important of all. Life is not about us, what we think we need to have fulfillment and happiness. Rather, it’s about You, and what You desire for us. You alone are the bread of life that satisfies eternally. Help us to believe this truth and to feast on you for what truly matters. Lord in your mercy…

We thank you for the 20 year chapter of ministry we shared with Pastor Jeff and his family. Be with him as he seeks your direction for the next chapter in his life. Be with our congregation during this time of transition. Guide our council, staff, and other leaders as decisions are made about interim leadership. Above all, help us to keep our focus on Jesus and to seek his guidance in the days ahead. Lord in your mercy…

We pray for those in need of healing at this time. We remember Dana Mozer in her recovery from a severe brain injury. We thank you for the progress she has already made, and pray that healing, especially in her left arm and leg, will continue. Be with the Smith family as they continue to mourn the passing of Marcia’s mother, Rita Brown. We pause to silently pray for others we know are in need of our prayers. Lord in your mercy…

Watch over the visa process as our Tanzanian guests travel to Dar Es Salaam for approval. We pray that all will go smoothly and that they will all be able to visit us in September. We pray you will bless this visit and this partnership. Lord in your mercy…

Be with our denomination, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, as we gather in national assembly in August. Guide our leaders, especially Bishop Hanson, as preparations are made. Be with the voting members in attendance as they discuss and debate important matters before the church. Guide their decisions to be in accordance with your will.

Protect and guide those that serve us in military service. Be with their families who wait anxiously at home. Bless our president in the important work he does as our nation’s leader. We pray that economic recovery will come soon. We thank you for the many blessings we do have as a country. Remind us by your Spirit to always be grateful and to share our bounty with others in need. Lord in your mercy…
