St. Paul Lutheran's Prayer Chain

PRAYER49A
Prayers 4/27/08

Assistant: Rejoicing in the wonder of new life in Jesus Christ, let us pray for the church, the world, and all of God’s creation:

God our Maker, this morning we’ve heard the marvelous promise that you do not leave us orphaned. You provide for us the Holy Spirit, to lead and to guide. These are difficult times for so many. The depressing news we hear during the week is very different from your words of promise and hope. Lead us to use this time for spiritual discernment. Lead us to value what is truly important. Lead us to trust your promises. And lead us to act boldly, especially when that means acting differently that what the world expects. Lord in your mercy…

We thank you for the church, a place for us to gather, hear your Word, and set the right direction for our lives. We are particularly grateful for the generosity of people like the Sanderson’s and the second family that has stepped forward with the matching gift challenge. We pray this will be a blessing for the whole church, as together we learn the joy of giving to make possible your work through this congregation. Lord in your mercy…

Healing One, we pray for Marv Peterson who continues to be at the Vets Hospital. We’re thankful for the progress he has made, and pray it will continue. Strengthen the suffering, comfort the bereaved, and heal any that are burdened in body and soul. Lord in your mercy…

We thank you for the ministries that take place through this congregation. Today we remember our youth, who last night had a very successful dinner and auction, and we pray for the 18 confirmation students that will affirm their Baptisms in the Rite of Confirmation next Sunday. Bless all our youth and bless their many ways of service to the congregation.

We remember the leaders of the nations, that they recognize unjust suffering and work fearlessly towards the establishment of peace. Lord in your mercy…

We pray for our partner church, Mtera, in Tanzania. Although we feel like we’re hurting economically, we realize we are wealthy as kings by comparison. Help us provide for their needs in appropriate ways, and also help us learn from our partner friends what it means to be fully dependent on you. Lord in your mercy…
