“AND JESUS SAID. . DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME!”

“AND JESUS SAID. . DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME!”

Preached at StPLC

Dear friends in Christ, grace and peace to you in Jesus’ name. Amen

Today is another “And Jesus said . . . ” message as we think together about the 2nd Sacrament recognized in our Lutheran faith tradition: Holy Communion. It’s about the bread and the wine.

Underlying the act of receiving the body and blood of Christ, there is something called “attitude.” Have you ever noticed how often we say of people today, she or he has “attitude”. Our attitude comes across in the way we talk, walk and speak or when we strike a pose. The Great Commission

16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Dear Friends in Christ, Grace and Peace are yours in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

Have you ever really thought about the nature of the Christian life? If not, or even if you have, I invite you to think with me about it for a few moments this morning. Christian life has a sacramental character. Through the Word, the Water, the Wine and the Bread, our lives are transformed in such a way that we see, feel and touch life in new ways. Our faith is active and we are made able to love, even the seemingly unlovable.

When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.”

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he had finished, one of the disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples to pray.”

The Fourth Word: Mark 15:34 or Matthew 27:45-46 “PROTESTING”
